New Year Greetings
January 2013
Hisashi Furuichi
President and C.E.O.
I would like to wish you all a happy New Year.
In April of 2012, PRIMIX adopted a new mid-term business plan called MOVE. One key strategic objective in the new plan is further globalization, and as part of those efforts, PRIMIX worked to establish a partnership with a Swiss company, a joint venture near Seoul, Korea, and finished moving PRIMIX Shanghai to a different location. With the cooperation of our Swiss partner, we have completed an installation of the PRIMIX's CDM process for manufacturing electrode slurry to conduct customer testing in Europe. In the first part of 2013, we are planning a similar installation in New Jersey, further enhancing our global footprint for customer testing, sales and marketing in Europe and North America.
In Korea, we have established the organizational structure (joint venture) to implement sales activities in Korea in response to new Korean government programs to stimulate growth of domestic manufacturers by promoting the usage of their equipment. At the same time, this new joint venture will open up opportunities for sales of equipment outside of the battery industry such as in the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries. Furthermore, we plan on maintaining our efforts in China with a view toward long-term growth despite the rather significant instability in China arising from criticisms of Japan. In fact, we have decided that perhaps this is the time more than any to step-up efforts and serve many of PRIMIX's major customers which are foreign-owned corporations. Therefore, PRIMIX decided to renew our commitment to China by making new investments and moving to a new factory in order to strengthen our production and testing facilities, and making the most of this new phase.
Leadership has changed in all three Asian countries--Japan, China and Korea--and with President Obama's reelection in the US, we can probably expect efforts toward Green New Deal policies to take on greater importance. We also hope that the change in Japan's leadership will indicate a news and positive direction for Japanese business, which has spent too much time shrouded in dark clouds.
In the PRIMIX greeting card at the end of the year, we cited a Japanese proverb about the Jozan snake. In this, the Year of the Snake, we are committed to advancing the new mid-term business plan MOVE toward an organization that moves and operates as one unified body from top management to all levels without gaps, like the snake of the proverb.I would like to sincerely wish everyone the best New Year in 2013. I hope that 2013 will bring good news for the Japanese economy and I look forward to the continued and generous cooperation of our stakeholders as we move forward with the new business plan and efforts therein. Thank you very much and Happy New Year.
